Protected Pests

Some of the “protected pests” might include bees, since they are a major part of the ecosystem (pollinating flowers and such) and without them, the human race would eventually die off.  Bees are already falling in number, not only because of unauthorized pest control, but because of various farming practices.  Bats are also legally protected as a declining population species.

Stray cats and dogs are also illegal to kill, though they can be put down in an animal control facility.  Even some “noxious beasts” do require special licenses before killing them yourself, such as fish and wild game.

Here are some lists of endangered mammals and reptiles, and even a list of federally protected bugs!
